Do Your Veins Look Like Webs or Branches?

Spider Veins

About Spider Veins

Small red, purple, and blue blood vessels that branch out like a tree root are called spider veins or thread veins. They are much smaller than varicose veins and are visible under the skin. Spider veins are caused when the valve inside the veins that controls blood flow becomes damaged or diseased. This can also result from tiny blood vessels bursting from increased pressure or sun damage.  Most people who develop spider veins will notice them on their ankles, thighs, calves, and face. Cosmetic concerns and physical symptoms are both reasons to remove spider veins.

Why Go to a Radiologist for This?

A radiologist can help to identify where the problem lies. The doctors will use an ultrasound to scan the legs. Then, using the image, the doctors can see where to administer treatment.

Why an Interventional Radiologist

By going to an interventional radiologist, you have less pain and less recovery time. The point of interventional radiology is to use invasive techniques currently available to minimize risk and improve health outcomes.

Sclerotherapy

Interventional radiology is intended to diagnose and treat patients in the most minimally invasive, effective way using image-guided procedures.

The idea is to treat patients in less time, with less pain, and a faster recovery.  Interventional radiologists are required to have seven years of specialized training in their diagnostic radiology. What does this mean for you? Confidence in your doctor’s knowledge of the latest technology in treating varicose veins and peace of mind that no unwanted or unnecessary treatments are being offered.

Client Reviews

Laser Vein Treatment Patient, Female, 38

“I appreciated that I knew what was covered by my insurance prior to my procedure to relieve me from the stress of not knowing. Staff members were friendly and welcoming. Staff was very quick but thorough; atmosphere was relaxed. I absolutely have had improvement of symptoms; I can sleep and am very active now not to mention wearing shorts for the first time since I was a teen.”

Spider Vein Patient, Female, 52

“Everything was very well explained and I was made as comfortable as possible. The medical staff was very patient with me as I had large areas of both legs to cover.”

Varicose Vein Patient, Female, 30

“I didn’t realize how much the appearance of my leg bothered me until my visit with you last week. As you asked me what brought me into the office, I could feel tears building up behind my eyes. Almost 10 years of refusing to wear shorts, hating to wear a bathing suit, and constantly trying to keep my leg completely covered has taken a larger affect on me than I realized. It was so nice to talk to someone who didn’t look at my ankle and ask if I twisted it! I am so thankful for the time you spent explaining my vascular disease and options for improvement and prevention. I felt like someone finally heard and understood my concern regarding my leg. Thank you for listening and educating……The excitement of a 30 year old!”
